Please note the following information: Summer Freedom Camp group tours consist of ten or more children. One chaperone is required per ten children. Chaperones must remain with their group throughout the visit. Chaperones are required to manage their groups. The Freedom Center reserves the right to discipline or remove any unruly groups.

Scavenger Hunt Selection:

Material and content may not be suitable for children under the selected ages. Summer camp scavenger hunts will begin on June 29th and end on August 6th. All scavenger hunts last approximately 90-minute, and are available Tuesday through Friday only, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your visit for check-in and orientation. The Freedom Center is closed on Sunday and Monday. Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Internal Slave Trade Scavenger Hunt - Ages 11-13 (Grades 5-6) Scavenger Hunt– Escape Gallery / Brothers of the Borderland / Slave Pen / Feelings Mural / Hands on activities and more! (90-minutes)

Visit Details

  • The Freedom Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • You will receive a confirmation within five business days of submitting your application. If you do not receive this confirmation, please call 513-333-7737.
  • One complimentary chaperone ticket is allowed for every ten children tickets purchased. The fee for adults over the 10:1 ratio is $9.00 each ticket.
  • Flash photography is prohibited within the Freedom Center exhibit areas.
  • Please have the children remain on the bus until the leader has checked in at the ticketing desk. Backpacks, phones, jackets, and sack lunches must remain on the busses.
  • The Freedom Center does not provide accommodations for sack lunches. Box lunches may be ordered through the North Star Café prior to your visit.
  • Buses may drop off children at the 2nd Street group entrance of the building but are then asked to seek off-site parking. There is a $20.00 cash parking fee for each bus. This fee is not associated with the Center. Payment should be made directly to Central Riverfront Parking (513-946-8100) on the day of your visit.

  • All sales are final. Groups that no-show or arrive with fewer visitors then originally booked will not receive a monetary refund. Groups will receive ticket refunds only.
  • Purchase orders (POs) for the full amount of admissions will be accepted for summer camp groups. The official PO or PO copy for the entire balance must be on file at least two weeks prior to your visit . The PO amount and final payment amount must match.
  • Your summer camp group confirmation letter will serve as the invoice.
  • Cash, check, credit card, money order, and travelers check are also accepted.

The North Star Café provides accommodations for delicious box lunches. If you are interested in purchasing box lunches for your group prior to your visit, please contact the Café’s Manager, or call (513) 333-7744.

Following your tour, please set aside time to visit the Freedom Center Gift Shop. Your students and chaperones will find a variety of Fair Trade merchandise from around the world. Individual souvenir gift bags can be purchased prior to your visit by calling the Gift Shop’s Manager, or call 513-333-7548. Gift Shop merchandise can be purchased online at any time at www.freedomcentergiftshop.org.
