In commemoration of the 50th anniversaries of several Civil Rights milestones, Mzuri delivers a spellbinding performance featuring storytelling, song and a video montage. Werner Coppel was born in Mörs, Germany, on February 22, 1925. Werner was from a middle-class German Jewish family. At the age of 15, Werner became highly involved in a Zionist youth group called Hachshara, one of many such groups that were set up throughout Europe.

Bella Ouziel was born in Salonika, Greece, on July 14, 1925. Until she was 17 years old, she lived a comfortable life with her three siblings, stepmother and father.
