This historical play is brought to life by members of the Freedom Center's Youth Docent program and tells the remarkable story of Freedom Summer -- highlighting those individuals who risked their lives to register people to vote in Mississippi during the summer of 1964. The play was created in partnership with Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Join us Monday, June 23 to celebrate the individual heroes around the world who battle slavery as modern-day abolitionists. The Freedom Center will also recognize its second class of local Cincinnati TIP (Trafficking in Persons) Heroes. The evening includes a panel discussion with the 2014 State Department TIP Heroes.

Freedom Center Hosts Free Panel Discussion on Activism and Advocacy related to Nigerian kidnappings

This Friday, join local leaders and activists at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center for a discussion of the recent kidnappings in Nigeria and the accompanying worldwide #Bringbackourgirls social media campaign. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of the happenings in Nigeria and the implications for activism in the age of the internet.

On March 6, the National Underground Freedom Center honored Kerry and Annie Hilton, founders of Freeset Global, as Everyday Freedom Heroes. Operating out of Kolkata, India in the neighborhood that houses India’s largest red-light district, Freeset provides alternative employment and economic freedom to hundreds of women trapped in India’s notorious sex trade through the sales of export-quality bags and apparel.
