Join historian Carl Westmoreland as he tells the story behind the museum's slave pen and the challenges he met on his journey of acquiring it from a farm in Maysville, KY. This gallery talk will take place on the second floor, in front of the slave pen.

On the steps of the Safe House in the Escape Gallery, listen to stories about freedom seekers and conductors during the Underground Railroad era. This 15-minute presentation will provide a greater understanding of the issues related to slavery and the antislavery movement that helped shape the network of allies known as the Underground Railroad.
