Teachers Institutes

The Freedom Center offers opportunities for educators to learn more about variety of topics related to Freedom Center content and to receive graduate credit toward licensure renewal through its Teacher Institutes. Up to three institutes are presented each year on a wide range of topics. Previous speakers and topics include:

  • Underground Railroad
  • Civil War
  • Gullah culture
  • Dr. David Blight of the Gilder Lehrman Institute at Yale
  • Dr. Sherman Jackson of Miami University
  • Dr. Prince Brown of Northern Kentucky University
  • Dr. Richard Dozier of Florida A&M University
  • Paul LaRue, Master Teacher of Washington Court House High School

Graduate credits are made available in partnership with the University of Cincinnati.
