Voices of the Future Conference
The Voices of the Future Conference is an initiative of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and eBay Foundation. As a national conference, it engages students from diverse backgrounds, geographic locations, faiths and races in meaningful dialogue that challenges them to take a look at their own attitudes and the role they play in the continuing struggle to achieve racial justice. This one-day convening targets students in grades 9-12, for a unique experience that is the culmination of the Freedom Center's Youth Conductor Week.
Our 2008 theme deals with the various ways in which media positively and/or negatively affects the attitudes of youth, particularly in the realm of race relations. This theme will be addressed from several aspects embedded in the areas of the internet, television, music, movies and print media.
