“Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America” Journal Reflection 1

Posted on May 13th, 2010 by Jamie Glavic

Take a moment to read to the following journal reflection and see what people are saying about NURFC exhibition, “Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America.” If you haven’t yet viewed this unforgettable exhibit, now’s the time to see it. Exhibit closes May 31.

fbThanks to the Freedom Center for this exhibit, which documents the profound human losses that came from fear, hatred, self-absorption. I am as moved by it as I was by the Holocaust Museum in D.C. How hard it is for our country to “Let Freedom Ring”. How hard it is for us to listen to each other, respect each other, care for each other. May it someday grow easy to do what is right. Until that day, may I and others resolve to do what is right, not what is easy.

Agonizing and brutally real, that’s an apt description of this exhibit. This is one of America’s shames.
