The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will host A Promise Deferred Is A Promise Denied, Wednesday, August 31 at 7:00 p.m. in the Harriet Tubman Theater. The public program will examine access to education and its lasting impact in the community. This event, presented in partnership with DST-Cincinnati Queen City Alumnae Chapter and the Wesley Education Center for Children and Families, is free and open to the public. 

The program will be moderated by Karen O. Henry, Assistant Director of Academics at University of Cincinnati and features a panel of experts and authors in early education including:

  • Dr. Cleaster Whitehurst-Mims, CEO of the Cleaster Mims College Prep and International Boarding Schools and author of "One Peanut at a Time"
  • Stephanie Byrd, Executive Director, Success by 6 at United Way of Greater Cincinnati
  • DeAnna Lane, Director of Outside Services for Cincinnati Early Learning Center
  • Greg Landsman, Strategic Advisor for the Cincinnati Preschool Promise and Every Child Capital
  • Cheryl Broadnax of Cincinnati Public Schools.
