The Struggle Continues

The struggle for freedom didn't end in 1865. The struggle for equality didn't end in 1965. The struggle continues around the world and in our own backyards. We at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, along with the rest of the nation, will be watching and listening as the events in Baltimore continue to unfold and the Supreme Court hears arguments in Obergefell v. Hodges (today's testimonies includes four challenges to same sex marriage bans, including Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee).

912 Generation Project

During the month of February, the 912 Generation Project will promote, judge and manage an essay contest “What Does Freedom Mean to Me?” The contest is open to students nationwide, grades 6 - 12 and is presented by the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, in partnership with the 912 Foundation and the American Public Education Foundation.
